NEW! Improvements to how you manage music projects

It could be said that the heart and soul of Magnetracks are the great features around managing and coordinating your music projects. As you know, this is where the true roll-up-your-sleeves dirty work lies in the day-to-day routine of a creative music organization.

Take a minute to think about all the things you need to get done that aren’t actually part of the music making process itself. Coming up with a dozen items won’t be a challenge, when you include mastering, creating alt mixes, remixes, stems, metadata, PRO registrations, digital rights registrations, performing backups, distributing tracks to the various services and sites you either showcase your music or distribute it through, and on and on and on. Multiply that by 10 or 20 new tracks that comprise a new release, and you have some serious work to do.

With Magnetracks, you’ve got all the best features of great project management software like BaseCamp or Trello, with the additional layer of features specific to making music. Whether you’re trying to coordinate with co-writers, studio players, staff (if you’re lucky enough to have any), or if you simply want to keep track of your own production notes, to-do’s and pre-release tasks, Magnetracks lets you track all this activity quickly and intuitively. Here’s what you get:

Visual Drag-and-Drop Scheduler

Easily create and assign tasks, and reschedule by dragging to a new spot on the attractive scheduling interface. You’ll also love how all the activities can be grouped by artist or user, or by track; making it easy to see at a glance what needs to be done and by whom. Email-notifications and auto-reminders keep you aware and focused on what needs to be done and when.

Easily Move Tracks from One Project to Another

If otherwise-good tracks just aren’t working for a specific project, simply grab the culprits, and reassign them to another active project. Magnetracks will automatically update all the file names and update the necessary metadata. Another example of a complex process turned into a two-click no-brainer by Magnetracks!

Create Projects with Sub-Projects

We’d been hearing for some time from customers how many projects don’t have a single set of requirements, but instead are made up of several distinct “musical needs”. For instance, a single project might require 20 cues in one genre, 20 in another, and 10 in yet another style. You need to know where you stand in each style, as well as in the entire delivery.

For this reason, we’ve created a Project / Sub-Project structure that will allow you to bundle several styles – each with its own description, delivery requirements and genres – under one master project. You’ll now be able to see the # Required / # Submitted / # Approved statistics for either the sub-project or the entire delivery across all genres. This will allow you to direct your artists and producers toward the genres you’re lacking tracks in, and will keep you on course to make your deliveries on time!

Track Your Progress

When opening up your projects to writer submissions on the ArtistPortal, you’ll get real-time statistics on how many tracks are needed, approved and total submitted. When you’ve reached your “track quota”, the project will automatically close for demos.
